First off, transplants are not the only hair restoration for men techniques available today. Dht blockers and propecia are just some of the options available.

It has always been safer for surgeons to use smaller grafts when moving skins around, but they have not always adhered, especially when speed was more expedient than caution. However in hair replacement, caution is by far more important. That is why your skin has to be moved, with the hairs and the blood on it, in pieces until it is all done. Now you know why it tends to take a lot of time.

Treating baldness was almost impossible at one time. Medical pros knew that hormones had something to do with why people suffered from the condition, but they really could not find a satisfactory solution. But then, skin grafting became more popular, and with it, hair replacement. Now, people are well into the fad, and docs and patients alike are reaping the fruits of this incredible reality.

Donor to recipient, that’s how hair replacement works. Your surgeon takes out skin with hair from an area that is not infected with… er, hair loss, and moves it to another area where your hair is falling off and nothing else seems to be able to stop it. Never an easy thing, it is one lengthy process that sort of moves your hair around four follicles at a time. Little womder some people would only consider it as a last resort. It takes well longer than a year to complete the whole process!

Hair replacement and transplantation started out as would be expected: with caution, surgeons working on transplanting smaller grafts of hair laden skin, with results that were only minimally successful. Today, the procedure is now as commercial as they come, which is a bit of a blast form something that is not necessarily life threatening. But who’s asking questions when the whole world is loving it.

Anyone who turns out their horse during the winter knows that a horse’s coat changes from the summer to the winter. But have you ever wondered what is at work for this to happen? This week I read about research done in the United Kingdom studying the coats of horses that died in the summer and the coats of those died in the fall.

Without getting too technical in my explanation they studied the thickness of the skin layers, the density of the individual hairs, and the number and volume of the sweat and sebaceous glands of ponies, non-Thoroughbreds and Thoroughbreds.

Of these three groups, the Thoroughbreds results were the most enlightening. The Thoroughbreds skin was distinctly thinner in the summer than a non-Thoroughbred. They had the widest range of skin change from summer to winter with a larger increase of sebaceous gland size. Interestingly the Thoroughbreds had higher size measurements for the sebaceous glands in the winter than the non-Thoroughbreds and the ponies. The sebaceous glands produce an oily substance which in the winter helps with waterproofing the equine coat while in the summer helps wick sweat through the coat. The researchers think it may be of their Arabian ancestry with its roots in a hotter climate.

As would be expected, there was a higher number of sweat glands in comparison in the Thoroughbreds and the non-Thoroughbreds compared to the smaller ponies. The non-Thoroughbreds and the ponies’ sebaceous glands were busier in the summer wicking away sweat from their coats.

Although horse owners know that their horses’ coats thicken in the winter and become thinner in the summer. It is also quite amazing how the horses hydration levels and just how adaptable they are.

Speaking of coats, here is a tip for a healthier and shinier coat. It is a supplement called TAHITIAN NONI™ Equine Formula ™ from Tahitian Noni International. Show horses use it. Besides nicer coats even all through the winter, TAHITIAN NONI™ Equine Formula™ supports the immune system; helps relieve stress, helps with digestion and nutrient absorption.

Now you know the mechanics behind why your horse sweats in the summer and their thicker coat in the winter months.
